WebPhentolamine blocks the postsynaptic alpha1-adrenergic receptors, decreasing sympathetic tone in the vasculature and causing vasodilation, which leads to a lowering of blood pressure. It also blocks presynaptic alpha2-receptors, preventing the feedback control of norepinephrine release.
