I have a 2001 Optimax that runs fine, except when I punch it to get on plan and hold it at WOT while she comes up, the alarm buzzer goes off. If I back of just slightly so it's not WOT (just a hair, not even enough to notice drop in RPMs and she still planes out normally), the alarm shots off.

Web19 mrt. 2012 · I took the boat out today to see how everything is doing. She started right up, but when I would go w.o.t. I would get 3 warning beeps. Only at w.o.t. not at idle. I checked the Mercury manual and it doesn't have a 3 beep warning in there. Any suggestions. Also when sitting at idle the RPMS are at 1200. I was told there was a service bulletin released on this circuit saying it was a known problem. The remedy is $2500.00 for a new PCM. My question is why wasn't I notified from Mercury that this problem existed when it was under warranty.

This is not unheard of in older Mercury motors.
