WebJun 5, 2014 · In this paper, we present the heavy-ion radiation test results for a 7-stage SPARC micro-processor. Special software handlers enabled fine grained classification of the types of crashes. The measured crash cross sections are compared with those predicted by fault injection simulation. WebHeavy-ion radiation can result in silicon carbide power device degradation and/or catastrophic failure. Test procedures and data interpretation must consider the impact that heavy-ion induced off-state leakage current increases will have on subsequent single-event effect susceptibility and testability.
